Scottie Scheffler, a professional golfer, had his Louisville court date postponed after being arrested for injuring a police officer and disobeying commands outside Valhalla Golf Club during the PGA Championship. The court date was moved to June 3, as Scheffler, who finished in the top ten at the PGA, faces charges including felony assault for the officer’s injuries.

According to a statement from Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell, the judge granted the defendant’s attorney’s motion to continue the arraignment from May 21 to June 3. The incident occurred as officers were investigating a tournament volunteer’s death when Scheffler arrived in a PGA courtesy car and reportedly refused to comply with officers’ commands, dragging an officer to the ground.

Scheffler’s attorney, Steve Romines, claims it was a misunderstanding, stating that the golfer never disobeyed any officer’s orders. Despite the arrest, Scheffler managed to play in the tournament, shooting a 66 in the second round but falling out of contention with a 73 in the third round. He ultimately tied for eighth place in the championship.
